WHAT TO WEAR

Students are required to wear comfortable, modest clothing that covers them adequately while moving around. Please avoid skirts.

Dance shoes are not required unless you already own them.

Long hair will be tied back off of the face.

Additionally there will be a day or two where students will be rehearsing outside. You will be notified of these days as they get closer and students will need to bring outdoor clothing to practice in.

WHAT TO BRING

Students will need to bring a refillable water bottle.

PARADE

As always, we are only able to share our experiences from past years. Because this event is put on by the City of New Westminster we are not informed of the parade plan in detail until closer to the day. In the past we have been expected to marshal an hour before the parade on Columbia Street between 4th Street and Merivale Street. The parade route is down Columbia Street and ends as you turn the corner on to 8th Street by Anvil Centre.

The parade begins around 11 am and depending on where we are in the line up ends around 11:45. Afterward we have a little holiday party with hot chocolate back at the studio.

PARENT HELP

We require 2 parents from our group to carry the banner in front of our dancers. If we do not have these people we cannot be in the parade as per the rules outlined by the parade organizers.

We also ask for a couple parents to help us walk at the back of our group and help carry basket of handouts.

EXPECTATIONS

In the past this course has experienced a higher case of absentee students on a weekly basis. We would like for all attendees to know that while the program is of a lower cost it is still of high value. With only 8 weeks to learn a performance for a very public audience it is important to attend all practices. The instructor prepares for this class the same way they prepare for all classes and respects the process of the class in the same way. Please do your very best to be present at all rehearsals.
