The Stage Refund and Withdrawal Policies
Page Summary
On this page you will find information regarding refunds and withdrawal policies for :
- Quarter Term Classes & Semester Long Classes
- Spring & Summer Weeklong Camps and Pro-D Camps
- Withdrawals due to Covid
We try to be transparent in much of what we do at The Stage and our refund and withdrawal policy is no different. We aim to make our families aware that withdrawing from a class the day before it starts or even a week can sometimes make or break the enrolment numbers. We plan carefully and diligently for our programs and when a registration is received it is expected that that student is committed. We completely understand that circumstances change for families (particularly with Covid) which is why we have written a policy that allows for a window of time where your class can be fully refunded. Please appreciate that late withdrawals affect not only our class numbers and our staff’s time, but also the opportunity of another student who would like the spot. Please consider your level of commitment before registering for classes.

27-20 calendar days prior to the start of the class – 75% refund
Less than 20 calendar days prior to the start of the class – No refund issued and the following policy will apply.
- A minimum attendance of 4 classes is required prior to withdrawing from a class
- A refund for classes remaining after the 4 attended classes will be issued upon withdrawal.
- If you withdraw later in the program fees for classes unattended will be refunded (Example: A student withdraws after 11 classes, remaining classes will be refunded)
All withdrawal/refund requests must be made in writing (via email) within the time frames listed above before the refund will be submitted.
Example Situation
Tuition is $269 + 5% GST = $282.45
28 calendar days prior to start of the class 100% refund = $282.45
27-20 calendar days prior to the start of the class 75% refund = $211.84
Refund after attending 4 classes = $225.96
Why?
It can often take students a series of classes to settle in. Making the decision to leave a class after the first or second week means they haven’t been given adequate time to find their rhythm and groove in the class. The first couple weeks can be difficult for many students, particularly if this is their first social experience, but after 4 classes we usually see everyone more comfortable and having a wonderful time.

This policy is of particular importance when taking online classes as it can take time to adjust to the online format.
We do not charge an administrative fee as other studios do. There are costs associated with handling your registration as well as your withdrawal and refund.

Play in a Day – Pro-D Camps
Payment is due in full at time of registration
Class fee is non refundable.
Why?
The amount of planning our spring and summer week long camps and our Pro-D camps require, and the nature of musical theatre camps, means we need a lot of lead time in order to properly plan for our students. If you opt out of the camp with less than 3 weeks notice we have already purchased and prepped your child’s materials for the week. Particularly when working with scripts and scenes, losing a student with less than two weeks notice also means we likely need to find another student to replace the missing characters in our scripts.
If you are only registering within the last 14 days it means that we have time to make sure your child’s materials are prepared so that they have the same great first day experience when they arrive as students that registered earlier.
We do not charge an administrative fee as other studios do. There are costs associated with handling your registration as well as your withdrawal and refund.
Year Long Programs (September-May/June)
First month’s payment is due as a non refundable deposit at the time of registration.
Parents must be signed up for AutoPay so that monthly payments can be taken on the 1st of each month.
Once each monthly payment is taken on the 1st, it is non refundable even if the case of withdrawal part way through the month.
All withdrawal/refund requests must be made in writing (via email) within the time frames listed above before the refund will be submitted.
Example Situation
A) Payment of $200 made at registration – Non Refundable
Payment of $200 made on September 1 and student withdraws on any date in September – Non Refundable
B) Payment of $2000 made in full at the time of registration
Student withdraws prior to the start of the class – $200 deposit (or equivalent of one month’s payment) non refundable but the remainder of the payment would be refunded.
Why?
These programs have long waiting lists. In order to ensure that everyone who wants a spot can get one we cannot have withdrawals without penalty because it prevents students who change their mind at the last minute from keeping a spot from someone on the waitlist.
We encourage a minimum of one month’s attendance (or 4 classes) before deciding to withdraw as this gives students time to get more comfortable with their peers, teachers and the general class procedures. Starting new things is hard, the first day may not be the “best” day but it doesn’t mean students won’t enjoy the program.
